As part of the charge for examining each of the three major focus areas, we also intend to consider in depth eight cross-cutting themes. These themes include:
- An examination of the climate that supports teaching and learning
- ¨The effective use of technology
- ¨A future-oriented vision of learning in small colleges and universities
- ¨Appropriate allocation of resources
- ¨Responsive and appropriate university-community linkages
- ¨An appropriate governance structure that enables accomplishment of our mission
- ¨Support for diversity initiatives
- ¨Ongoing assessment of our goal attainment
- Information literacy of Mansfield faculty and students
Our intention is to, where appropriate, address each of these themes within the more in-depth analysis of the three key focus areas. Subcommittees that focus on the key focus areas are charged with
considering these themes wherever they seem related to their work. Aspects of these themes will also be addressed extensively within the self-study chapters that constitute the "mini-comprehensive" section.
